Firm History
Prostko & Santillán, LLC was organized on January 1, 2010 through the merging of two established law firms in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area (Law Offices of James A. Prostko and Santilllan & Associates, PC). Both partners are highly regarded in the areas of bankruptcy, tax and business matter in the Pittsburgh metroplex, Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.
During the past 32 years, Mr. Prostko has concentrated his practice in the areas of small business reorganizations, creditor representation in bankruptcy cases and Chapter 7 and 13 consumer bankruptcy cases. He served as a Chapter 7 Trustee on the Panel of Trustees for the Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania for seventeen years, handling several thousand Chapter 7 Bankruptcy cases. He was also a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph L. Cosetti, Chief Bankruptcy Judge in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Additionally, Mr. Santillán was a Senior Partner with the law firms of Santillán, Eisen & Boyer, P.C. and Santillán & Eisen, P.C. During the past 20 years of his practice, Mr. Santillán was primarily engaged in bankruptcy litigation and municipal tax collection in State & Federal courts in Pennsylvania. The firms became well known for their success in areas including bankruptcy litigation, corporate formations, bankruptcy reorganizations and workouts of distressed small businesses.
As the diversity of clients evolved over the years, Santillán & Associates expanded its range of services to meet those needs. The firm has developed a substantial practice including sophisticated business transactions, real estate matters, criminal defense, family law (adoptions, pre-nuptual agreements, divorce, custody & support) and estate planning & administration. In addition, based upon its past representation of both consumer & business clients with complex tax issues, the firm has added the services of income/real estate tax litigation & defense.
The merging of both practices brings together a confluence of ideas and strategies to the practice of law as both partners attack issues from both debtor & creditor perspectives.
